Vic D. is participating in the vocational opportunities program which enables him to develop an avocation readily generalizable to the community. Here he is building a rocking chair sold to another client living on the campus. Proceeds from all sales go back into the vocational program virtually allowing the clients the opportunity to be paid real wager for real work. This builds self-esteem, and also retrains clients to become self-sufficient once again. As a result of his transition towards independence and relearning a vocational skill, VD has improved his coordination, cognitive and processing skills and reduced behavioral outbursts. |
